The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC network announced today the key dates for the 96th Oscars, with the ceremony scheduled for March for the third year in a row as the event marks steady increases in viewership over the past two years. The Oscars will once again broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and on screens throughout more than 200 international territories.
Academy members will have four weeks for final voting, beginning at the end of February. With another bumper crop of animated features on the way, the 2023-24 awards season is sure to be another close run. Some of the highly anticipated titles on the way include films from this year’s big winner, Netflix (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), such as Aardman’s Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, graphic novel adaptation Nimona, Adam Sandler vehicle Leo and China co-pro The Monkey King, following spring release The Magician’s Elephant.
We also have Illumination’s now-playing blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie and upcoming Benjamin Renner pic Migration, Disney’s Wish and Pixar’s Elemental, DreamWorks’ Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken and Trolls Band Together, Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the new Hayao Miyazaki opus How Do You Live?, to name a few.
