Nicki Minaj has signed on to voice star and executive produce a new adult animated series based on the Dark Horse comic Lady Danger, which will be putting a boot up some baddies on Amazon Freevee. The show’s exec producers also include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (G-Unit Film & TV; Power), Brian Sher and Paul Young & Mike Griffin (Make Good Content).
Rick and Morty studio Starburns Industries is handling the animation.
The Alex de Campi comic-book series is being adapted to animation by writers/exec producers Carlton Jordan and Crystle Roberson (Love Handles). The near-future tale follows a government agent left for dead by her team after she discovers a dangerous secret. She is resurrected as afrofuturistic avenger Lady Danger, an agent of B.O.O.T.I. (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention), protecting her true identity and kicking butt to protect the Earth of 2075.
Freevee entered the original animation ring with adult horror-comedy shortform You’re Not a Monster in 2019. The same year, it became the exclusive first-run U.S. distributor for Canadian toon Corner Gas Animated.
