TV Bytes: MIPTV Deals &Global Animation Sales

Superights, a division of Superprod Group, sailed into Cannes on a wave of sales for its Emmy-winning preschool series Go! Go! Cory Carson and other international pick-ups ahead of MIPTV. The series about an adorable orange car and his humorous adventures in Bumperton Hills across a wide range of formats, from seven-minute episodes to a 42-minute movie as well as shorts and 22-minute specials.

Produced by Vtech and Kuku Studio, Go! Go! Cory Carson premiered its first window on Netflix, and now heads to
EMEA by LTV (Latvia), RTS (Switzerland), VRT (Flemish Belgium), SVT (Sweden) and TG4 (Ireland), Radio Canada and Daekyo (Korea), with additional territories currently in discussion.

  • Deep in the Bowl (52 x 5’) from Zeilt Productions, Tencent Video and Watt Frame – picked up by linear channel TeleQuebec.
  • Pat The Dog (141 x 7’ + 4 x 26’ + 10 x1’30″) from Superprod, Animoka, Canal+, RTBF & Ketnet – U.S. SVOD platform Condista, as well as Canadian Bell Media’s SVOD platform Crave. In APAC, Superights has partnered with Chinese distributor Wing Sight Culture & Media Co. Ltd selling VOD rights.
  • That’s Joey! (52 x 13’) from Superprod, Digital Graphics, Atmosphere Media, Planeta Junior – Vlogbox and VOD rights via Wing Sight in China/APAC.
  • Helen’s Little School (52 x 13′) from Superprod and Muse – picked up by Vlogbox in North America.
  • Percy’s Tiger Tales (52 x 13’), from La Fabrique d’Images – deals with Vlogbox and Crave.
  • Geronimo Stilton (78 x 26’) from Atlantyca and Superprod– Bell Media’s Crave platform.
  • Will (52 x 2’) from Cross River Productions – Crave.
  • Clay Time (90 x 4’30″) from Reaz-JLAGroup – TeleQuebec renewed rights and also acquire the new Season 3, and Korea’s Daekyo renewed Seasons 1 and 2.
  • The Adventures of Little Penguin (52 x 5’) from Tencent video with animation by Luce Creative – Crave in Canada has picked up the series that is already doing well on Warner in France and Africa, LTV in Latvia, MTVA in Hungary, RTS in Switzerland, VRT in Belgium and Ceska TV in the Czech Republic. The show also has a new deal with Korea’s Daekyo.

 


Bat Pat

From MIPTV, Milan-based Atlantyca Entertainment has partnered with global on-demand kids entertainment service Toon Goggles to stream their popular kids animated-comedy Bat Pat series. Two seasons will be available in English (VOD and streaming) on the platforms, commencing May 2023. The deal sees the lovable bat flying into Europe (Germany, U.K., Nordics, Baltics, East Europe countries and others), Asia, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

The 2D series follows the comical adventures of Bat Pat and his friends Martin, Leo and Rebecca Silver as they unravel mysteries and cross paths with supernatural creatures of the night in Fogville. In Season 2, they bring Molly the zombie along to travel across the globe on Engine 13, a ghostly train. Atlantyca recently inked a deal for S2 of Bat Pat to stream on Happy Kids in the U.S.

 


Dino Ranch

Boat Rocker announced a further raft of global distribution sales for the second season of Dino Ranch, its hit 3D animated preschool series which airs on Disney Junior and Disney+ in the U.S. Following on from the roaring success of the first season, broadcasters worldwide are reupping for Season 2.

In the U.K. & Ireland, the show continues on Disney+ and on free-to-air kids’ channel Tiny PopSuper RTL will continue to broadcast Dino Ranch in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and it remains on leading free-to-air kids’ channel Cartoonito in Italy. Gulli has re-signed for France, plus M6 and Gulli Africa in EMEA.\

Walt Disney has acquired Season 2 for Japan, and Dino Ranch will continue on Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand. In the Nordics, the show continues on NRK in Norway and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation has re-signed for its kids channels Ramasjang and Ultra.

S2 premiered on Disney Junior and Disney+ in the U.S. and LatAm in 2022, and it was recently announced that Season 3 (52 x 11’) will launch on those same channels and territories later this year.

 


Princess Sam Entertainment Group has sold its hit kids’ adventure-comedy-fantasy Tara Duncan to major terrestrial broadcaster ITV (U.K.) and Italy’s national public broadcasting company Rai. Season 1 (52 x 13’) began on Rai Kids channel Rai Gulp in April, now airing daily, and is available on its free VOD platform Rai Play. Series one will arrive on ITVX, ITV’s recently launched free ad-supported streaming platform, in July.

Based on the books by Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian, the series centers on an ordinary girl from Earth with extraordinary powers, who discovers she is heir to the throne of the Meme empire and must defend the magical planet OtherWorld from the evil Magister. The 3D CGI mo-cap series premiered on Disney and Gulli in France in Spring 2022, topping charts in April, and has sold to more than 80 countries. In France, the show returns to Disney+ on June 23 and to GulliMax in September.

 


Lastman

France TV Distribution has acquired Seasons 1 (26 x 13′) and 2 (6 x 45′) of the French adult animated series Lastman, launching sales at MIPTV. The show is produced by Everybody On Deck, and originally broadcast on France TV Slash.

Based on the hit manga by Balak, Bastien Vivès and Michaël Sanlaville, the 2016 series centers on a streetwise brawler and part-time boxer whose life is turned upside down when he becomes guardian to the strange child of his murdered friend, kicking off supernatural martial arts quest.

Season 2 features an original narrative structure where each episode tells the journey of a specific character evolving through a particular individual genre: thriller, musical, horror, etc.

 


It's Cody Time
It’s Cody Time

Canela Media (U.S. Hispanic) has added new shows and episodes to its content lineup for Canela Kids through its partnership with Moonbug Entertainment. Starting in April, 145 new episodes of Spanish-language content will be available for free.

The lineup includes the new animated series Juega con Cody (now playing), CoComelon’s first-ever spinoff channel features Cody Green and his loving family. The musical preschool series brings positive, fun content to children around the world and will include nursery rhymes as well as original songs.

Plus, new seasons of CoComelon, Blippi Wonders, Lellobee City Farm, Morphle and Supa Strikas (May 2).

 


Kukuli
Kukuli

Fauna Entertainment‘s flagship show Kukuli is expanding its reach into Asia. The 52 x 7′ 3D CG series will be broadcasted on HKTV in Japan and will be dubbed and distributed by Shanghai Cubestar Media which has been appointed as the exclusive agent for the Chinese market.

The Turkish toon first launched on YouTube, where it has amassed 5 million subscribers, is now available in over 80+ countries through partners including Netflix, Spacetoon, Prime Video, Minika, the show has also an extensive consumer products program with over 120 products.

 


Zinkia and KidsBeeTV have partnered to bring the beloved preschool series Pocoyo to the KidsBeeTV streaming platform. The licensing deal includes the third season of Pocoyo, titled Let’s Go Pocoyo. KidsBeeTV will also feature 18 Pocoyo songs, including classics like “Old Macdonald Had a Farm” and “Ten in the Bed”, as well as original compositions like “Toothbrush Jazz.”

Pocoyo follows the adventures of a curious and brave little boy and his friends, and Season 3 is designed to help young children develop their early vocabulary. Each episode features segments that reinforce the concepts introduced in the story, blending education and entertainment. Pocoyo content will launch on KidsBeeTV apps this month.
