The team at Montreal’s L’Atelier Animation (Leap!, upcoming 10 Lives), part of the Cinesite studios group, has powered another colorful and action-packed kids’ series, providing 3D services on KidsCave Studios’ latest Netflix show: Kitti Katz. The first 10 x 22’ episodes begin streaming on May 18.
“After a wonderful collaboration with L’Atelier on our first high-end 40 x 22’ series for ITV and Netflix, Robozuna, L’Atelier were our preferred choice of 3D studio to deliver the level of character animation and cinematic lighting that would meet our aspirations — they, as usual surpassed them!” said Ed Bignell, KidsCave’s CEO and creator of Kitti Katz.
Kitti Katz tells the story of three teenage girls that can transform from cute kittens into fierce, feline superheroes and must save the world from an evil Egyptian goddess of the underworld. Geneviève Boisvert, Producer, has been leading the 3D services at L’Atelier Animation, alongside Nikki Braine, Animation Director.
“Kitti Katz is a story about female friendship and strength. No matter what is happening in your life, you can always count on your girlfriends to be there for you. This was an extremely important project from an all-female led animation team, which is rare to find in this industry,” Braine noted. “L’Atelier gave us a safe and inclusive space to tell this story, and we had an amazing and fun time doing it. From Cats to Superheroes, it was a dream project for us!”
L’Atelier Animation utilized KidsCave Studios’ creative assets, including art direction, character and location designs, storyboards, animatics and light keys, to provide 3D asset creation, animation services, effects, lighting and pre-grade image delivery.
“Making a series with such a tight delivery schedule and high-quality expectations requires an exceptional set of skills, which was brilliantly demonstrated by L’Atelier Animation’s team of artists. The image quality perfectly reflects their talent, in addition to KidsCave Studios’ artistic vision and expertise” said Boisvert.
