For the first time ever on screen, Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are being portrayed by actual teenagers in Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies and Point Grey’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem — bringing radical animated action to the big screen on August 2 (following early fan preview screenings).
In a newly released behind-the-scenes featurette, fans get a first-hand look at the energy, authenticity and cutting up that went into the performances by Nicolas Cantu (Leo/Leonardo), Sharon Brown Jr. (Mikey/Michelangelo), Micah Abbey (Donnie/Donatello) and Brady Noon (Raph/Raphael). In the video, executive producer and voice of Bebop Seth Rogen (Invincible, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Sausage Party) and director Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Gravity Falls) discuss the important of getting a teen take on these iconic characters and reflect on the four-performer recording sessions.
Directed by Rowe and co-directed by Kyler Spears from a screenplay by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg & Jeff Rowe and Dan Hernandez & Benji Samit, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem also features the voices of Hannibal Buress (Genghis Frog), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), John Cena (Rocksteady), Jackie Chan (Master Splinter), Ice Cube (Superfly), Natasia Demetriou (Wingnut), Ayo Edebiri (April O’Neil), Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman), Post Malone (Ray Fillet), Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko) and Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom).
Synopsis: After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.
