Children’s and family entertainment indie Studio 100 Media announced the acquisition of a stake in animation studio 3Doubles Producciones, based in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. This strategic partnership opens the next chapter in Studio 100 Media’s continuous expansion of its European slate of animated series and movies.
Previously, the two studios have successfully collaborated on various projects, including the feature films Mia and Me: The Hero of Centopia and upcoming Giants of La Mancha.
“This acquisition is an important next step for the expansion of Studio 100 Media’s European slate of animated series and movies. It will further strengthen our close cooperation with L.A.-based Viva Kids, who also acquired a stake in 3Doubles earlier this year,” said Studio 100 Media’s CEO, Martin Krieger. “We are thrilled to work with such exceptional partners and to be part of a major force in creating and distributing innovative content for the international market.”
The three companies are aiming to produce new movies and series together, which will be distributed by Studio 100 Media internationally and in North America by Viva Pictures / Viva Kids.
“As a newly added shareholder, Studio 100 Media is the perfect match for Viva’s and our collaboration with the aim of becoming a global powerhouse,” adds Darío Sánchez, CEO & Producer at 3Doubles Producciones.
Victor Elizalde, Managing Partner of Viva Pictures, comments, “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Studio 100 Media into this global production and distribution trifecta of companies. Collectively 3Doubles, Studio 100 Media and Viva Pictures will have a footprint on par with the major motion picture studios.”
Based in Munich, Studio 100 Media (part of Belgium’s Studio 100 Group) represents a portfolio of well-known brands such as Maya the Bee, Mia and Me, Heidi, Vic the Viking and 100% Wolf. The company also engages in international brand rights licensing and manages its own production studio, Studio Isar Animation.
Founded by Sánchez in 2017, 3Doubles currently employs over 100 people at its headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Mercury Steam owner Ignacio Navas and Aliot Innovation founder José Ángel Olmo became partners at 3Doubles in 2020, and Viva Kids in 2023. The studio has produced feature films Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow, The Ogglies and My Fairy Troublemaker, and is currently working on SuperKlaus and Norbert.
Viva Kids is a Los Angeles-based film production studio and all-rights distributor. In 2023, Viva brought The Amazing Maurice to Sundance Film Festival and to 2,000 theaters in North America. Viva has also led the production and distribution on animated and live-action movies such as Rally Road Racers, 100% Wolf and R.L. Stine’s Zombie Town.
