‘Leo’ Tops Nielsen’s Thanksgiving Weekend Streaming Chart, ‘Bluey’ at No. 3

Data compiled by view tracker Nielsen show that, in addition to being Netflix’s biggest animated feature debut ever (topping the English films list with 34.6 million views) when it premiered November 21, the Adam Sandler adventure-comedy Leo was the overall most-streamed title in the U.S. over Thanksgiving across platforms. Figures from the week of 11/20 to 11/28 clock 1.5 billion minutes viewed.

Netflix snagged the top two spots, following Leo with the Korean drama-inspired competition series Squid Game: The Challenge. Marking another win for family animation in the Top 10 is Bluey, which scored the No. 3 spot for Disney+ with nearly 1.2B minutes viewed (140 episodes available). The global hit Australian preschool series will deliver 10 new episodes featuring the lovable Blue Heeler next month.

While streaming viewership got a boost from the long holiday weekend, Nielsen noted that numbers were still down from last year, which was carried by the runaway success of Charles Addams-inspired series Wednesday. The coming-of-age horror-comedy drew almost 6B views for Netflix. A slump in original content is evident in much of the Top 10 list, which features many established shows like Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Young Sheldon and the Gen Z-approved ’90s throwback, Friends.
