On Wednesday, the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma announced the nominees for the 49th César awards, sometimes known as “the French Oscars.” The Academy revealed a list of 111 nominations across 24 categories — including animated feature and short film — which were voted in by a record high of first-round participation (71.9% / 3,375 votes).
The Best Feature Animation nominees are Chicken for Linda!, which just won the Lumière award from the international press for French cinema (similar to Hollywood’s Golden Globes), No Dogs or Italians Allowed and Mars Express.
The 2024 César ceremony will be held Friday, February 23 at L’Olympia in Paris, hosted by actress, filmmakers and singer Valérie Lemercier (Aline, Les Visiteurs) and broadcast exclusively on Canal+. Director Christopher Nolan and actress/filmmaker Agnès Jaoui will receive the year’s Honorary César awards.
