Organizers of the Kaboom Animation Festival have announced the Official Selection for the 2024, featuring a lineup of 178 films and VR works from around the globe. This edition offers visitors nine categories to explore, including International Shorts, Dutch Shorts, Commissioned Shorts, Shorts for Kids, Short Docs, VR Projects and the specially curated New Directions, Poetry in Motion and Bonkers Shorts sections.
Kaboom will run April 5-14 in Amsterdam, Utrecht and online. The Netherlands festival is an Oscar-qualifying competition, with the winners of the International Short and Dutch Professional Short categories eligible for consideration for the Academy Awards short film race.
In addition to the animated film contest, the event also offers visitors Kaboom Industry Days (April 9-10) at HKU in Utrecht, focusing on young talent on the first day, and dedicated to animation industry pros on the second. Tickets for Kaboom 2024 will go on sale March 8.
