In more Netflix Animation buzz, the What’s On Netflix blog revealed that the epic fantasy-adventure series Wereworld has brought on British actor Louis Landau (The Serpent Queen) to play the main protagonist Drew’s brother, Trent Ferran, while Nina Barker-Francis (House of the Dragon) has been tapped to play Whitley, a friend of Drew’s.
Synopsis: Based on the books by Curtis Jobling, Wereworld is an epic fantasy adventure series that follows Drew Ferran as he comes of age and discovers he’s the last of a long line of Werewolves, and rightful (yet reluctant) ruler of a land governed by Werelords. Drew must fight to abolish the tyranny of the Lionlords and reclaim the throne.
The 3D CG series is directed by Tom Brass for Jellyfish Pictures and produced by Angelo Abela, Tim Compton, Curtis Jobling (also lead writer) and Barry Quinn for Lime Pictures. Wereworld received an upfront order of 16 x 22′ from the streamer, which could drop all at once or be split into two seasons. According to Jobling’s website and network posts, the author is adapting all six novels in the 2011-2013 book series; the show was previously anticipated for release in late 2023 or early 2024.
