New Europe Debuts ‘Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust’ Trailer

The international trailer has arrived for Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust, the feature film extrapolation of Indian filmmaker Ishan Shukla’s award-winning animated short Schirkoa (2016). Produced using Unreal Engine, the dystopian tale is launching on the festival circuit with a world premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival this week.

Synopsis: In a sophisticated near perfect society, ‘Schirkoa’, citizens live with paper bags on heads to dissolve differences. Tensions rise when the whispers of a mythical land without the bags start to float and a fresh council member sparks an accidental revolution…

The 2D/3D film features the voices of Golshifteh Farahani (Extraction), Asia Argento (Marie Antoinette), French singer & actress SoKo and Montreal-born garage rocker King Khan, with appearances by filmmakers Lav Diaz (Norte, the End of History),Karan Johar (Shershaah), Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth: The Golden Age) and Gaspar Noé (Vortex).

Written and directed by Shukla with the artistic contribution of Bich-Quan Tran, Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust is produced by Shukla’s animation studio Red Cigarette Media (India) and Tran’s Dissidenz Films (France) in co-production with Rapid Eye Movies (Germany). New Europe Film Sales is handing international sales, co-representing the pic with Anonymous Content in North America.
