Black Women Animate (BWA) has announced the return of its acclaimed Bootcamp, “Making Our Mark,” scheduled for April 13-14 at Titmouse Animation Studios in Los Angeles. This free two-day event aims to empower early and mid-career professionals through in-person workshops, industry panels, screenings and networking opportunities.
The application deadline for the 2024 BWA Bootcamp is March 11. Apply through bwastudios.com/bootcamp2024.
Now in its fifth year, BWA Bootcamp continues to provide invaluable insights into animation workflows and specialties, including illustration, design, character animation and animation for gaming. With a special focus on fostering lasting industry connections and community building, attendees can expect a dynamic and enriching experience.
“We’re thrilled to host our Bootcamp once again, offering aspiring animators the chance to learn, connect, and grow within the industry,” said Taylor K. Shaw, CEO of BWA Studios. “This event underscores our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in animation, empowering talented individuals to make their mark in the field.”
The youngest CEO in the animation industry and a prominent figure in Hollywood, Shaw has been recognized for her groundbreaking work — named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Hollywood & Entertainment list and recipient of the Shadow & Act Rising Executive Award. Through her leadership of BWA Studios, Shaw has worked to reshape the animation landscape by actively recruiting Black women and animators of color.
In addition to her role at BWA Studios, Shaw is a Partner & Transformational Coach at Inspire Justice, where she champions personal transformation and equity initiatives. Beyond animation, Shaw has feature films and TV shows in development, including projects for actor/activist Kendrick Sampson (Insecure, HBO).
