Improv Fantasy Podcast ‘Hello from the Magic Tavern’ Begins Animated Quest

The wondrous, magical and altogether weird world of Foon is the next fantasy destination for animation fans to drop into, as Play Hooky Productions and Starburns Industries (Rick and Morty) announce they are developing an animated series based on the comedy podcast Hello from the Magic Tavern. The fifth season of Arnie, Chunt and Usidore’s adventures drops March 18.

Launched in 2015, Hello from the Magic Tavern follows Arnie Niekamp — a human from our Earth who fell through a magical portal behind a Chicago Burger King, luckily with all his podcasting equipment — and his co-hosts Chunt the shapeshifter (mostly a badger) and Usidore the wizard (sometimes a ghost) as they meet and interview the many magical creatures and interesting characters across the land of Foon.

Niekamp plays his self-characterization, with fellow creators Matt Young as Usidore and Adal Rifai as Chunt, and special guests from across the Chicago comedy scene and beyond. S5 of the podcast will welcome Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live), Sam Recih (co-founder of CollegeHumor, Head of Original Content at Dropout) and Kate Welch (game designer/dungeon master; Narrative Director of Probably Monster).
