AMC Networks’ anime-focused streaming service HIDIVE announced today that the new original series Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night (Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai) will join its Spring 2024 slate as an exclusive simulcast. Tokyo’s Shibuya City — a center of Japanese youth culture amid a frenzy of fashion, art, entertainment and nightlife — provides the backdrop for this unique slice of life, coming-of-age ensemble drama.
HIDIVE will host the North American premiere of Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night Episodes 1 & 2 on March 29 at Anime Boston 2024.
“We’re delighted to add Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night to HIDIVE’s Spring 2024 line-up of exclusive simulcast series,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “With animation by Doga Kobo, the studio behind 2023’s global smash hit Oshi no Ko, this original coming-of-age ensemble drama is sure to be one of top new series of the year. Fans do not want to miss a single episode of Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night!”
Synopsis: Shibuya is a city full of identity. It is here on Shibuya’s late night streets that illustrator Mahiru Kozuki, former idol Kano Yamanouchi, Vtuber Kiui Watase and composer Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi — four young women who are slightly outside the world — join together and form an anonymous artist group called JELEE.
