‘Mars Express’ Takes Off on Blu-ray & Digital with GKIDS in June

French sci-fi noir animated feature Mars Express, is due to land on all major digital platforms and Blu-ray, for the first time in North America, on June 18.  The film festival favor from director Jérémie Périn will be presented in both French and English, with bonus features, scene breakdowns and a “Let’s Play Classic Games” featurette with the director.

Mars Express is currently available for pre-order on GKIDS.com and ShoutFactory.com, customers ordering directly from GKIDS and Shout! stores will receive a folded poster while supplies last.

Synopsis: Society’s elite abandon Earth in 2200 to make Mars the center of civilization. They are served by obedient robots that are nearly indistinguishable from the humans that they have replaced. Amidst a growing scandal of an underground group hacking androids, a cybernetics student disappears. Capable-but-troubled detective Aline and her android partner, Carlos, take the case to find her. As they descend into the dark underbelly of Mars, they unravel a deeper conspiracy that threatens mankind — and their robot counterparts.

The dystopic cyberpunk-detective story premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival and later competed in the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Feature. It also scored César and Lumière Award nominations for Best Animated Film and received the audience award at the 2023 Fantasy Film Fest. GKIDS launched a nationwide theatrical release on May 3.
