Video game IP development studio Story Kitchen and DreamWorks Animation have forged a strategic pact. The ShrekTrolls and How to Train Your Dragon studio now has first-look rights to animated feature concepts pitched by Story Kitchen, which will be securing game properties suited to adaptation. Projects to be developed under the deal are yet to be announced.

Story Kitchen was founded in 2022 by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, Sonic the Hedgehog producer Dmitri M. Johnson and former APA Partner-Agent Mike Goldberg. Among the video game adaptations the studio is shepherding to screens are Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft for Netflix (based on the franchise created by Crystal Dynamics), a film/TV expansion for award-winning indie It Takes Two (Hazelight Studios) and BAFTA Game of the Year Vampire Survivors (Luca Galante/poncle).

The studio currently has a first-look series deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
