A home-made animated feature is ready to sink its teeth into Australian cinemas this summer, with StudioCanal debuting the official trailer for 200% Wolf. Opening Down Under on August 8, the film is a sequel to Sydney-based Flying Bark Productions’ 2020 movie 100% Wolf, which went on to gross $8.1 million at the global box office.
Based on the books by Jayne Lyons, both films center on Freddy Lupin: the heir to a great werewolf dynasty whose first ‘warfing’ goes awry and transforms him into a pink-poofed poodle.
Synopsis: In 200% Wolf, Freddy Lupin thinks he has everything it takes to lead his werewolf pack, but earning the respect of his packmates proves to be a challenge. If only he were more… wolfish. But when a wayward wish transforms him into a werewolf and deposits a mischievous moon spirit on earth, Freddy must restore the cosmic order before it’s too late.
With Batty and his dog pals along for the ride, Freddy must seek out a dangerous sorceress with a grudge against the wolf pack, before his new moon spirit friend runs out of life energy and fades away. If the team can avoid being turned into were-toads and Freddy can resist the pull of forbidden earth-magic, maybe they can send the spirit home and save the world. One thing’s for sure — Freddy will never question being a poodle again.
The sequel is again directed by Alexs Stadermann from a screenplay by Fin Edquist, with returning voice stars Ilai Swindells as Freddy, Samara Weaving as Batty and Akmal Saleh as Hamish, joined by newcomers Jennifer Saunders, Elizabeth Nabben and Peter Mcallum. Producers are Barbara Stephen, Alexia Gates-Foale and Nano Arrieta.
200% Wolf is produced by Flying Bark and co-produced by Siamese in Western Australia and Atlantika in Spain, with animation provided by 3Doubles in the Canary Islands. StudioCanal is distributing the film in Australia, with Studio 100 Film managing international sales. Viva Kids has picked up U.S. distribution rights.
