Having built up a slate of successful animation productions aimed a teens and young adults, leading Chinese online video streaming platform Tencent Video is now looking to build on these projects and expand its existing titles internationally.
Tencent’s portfolio includes both original titles and properties which have been developed from well-known and successful web novels and video games. Stand out titles currently in production include:
- Honor of Kings (13 x 20’), a 3D adventure/fantasy series based on the world’s most played MOBA game
- Lord of Mysteries: The Clown (13 x 35’), a 2D adventure/fantasy series adapted from the hugely-popular webnovel series set in Victorian London
- Ling Long Mountain (12 x 15’), a 2D adventure/fantasy series
- Apocalypse of All Races (26 x 15’), a science fiction series adapted from the urban webnovel
- The Loud Inn (16 x 5’) a stop motion comedy series about two sisters who take over a mysterious inn
- Taisu Project (4 x 20’), a 2D animated anthology film series featuring four interlinked science-fiction stories about war and life by acclaimed directors Shinichiro Watanabe, Shuuhei Morita, Li Wei and Weng Ming
Tencent Video says it is making a long-term commitment to animation, which it sees as a genre with huge opportunity for potential and growth. It has a large slate of existing content and is actively seeking global partners to help realize its ambitions to bring its animation to a wider international audience. The content is currently available on Tencent’s Cartoon Channel, which has made Tencent Video the number one platform for teen and YA animation in China with 200 million-plus viewers.
