HIDIVE Spices Up Summer Anime Slate with ‘2.5 Dimensional Seduction’ and ‘Dungeon People’

HIDIVE, AMC Networks’ dedicated anime streaming platform, announced two additions to its summer lineup this week: the romcom/drama 2.5 Dimensional Seduction and fantasy comedy-adventure Dungeon People.

Celebrating the world of cosplay, 2.5 Dimensional Seduction is not simply a romcom, it is also a serious teen drama about passionate teenagers and their endeavors overcoming both their worries and dilemmas to become the best cosplayers they can possibly be.

Synopsis: “I have no interest in real girls!” So claims Okumura, the president of the school’s manga club. He’s your typical otaku, obsessed with a sexy (fictional) 2D manga character known as Liliel. Then the new school year starts, and a (real!) 3D girl named Ririsa whose passion is cosplay joins the club. Ririsa convinces Okumura to become her photographer — and guess who her favorite manga character is? Not only that, but Ririsa is into modeling the fetishy stuff! The boundaries between 2D and 3D start to blur as this hot-blooded romantic comedy unfolds.

2.5 Dimensional Seduction is directed by Hideki Okamoto, written by Takao Yoshioka and production by J.C.Staff.

Based on the widely read 2019 manga series by Yu Hashimoto (19 volumes, serialized in Shonen Jump+ and published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment), 2.5 Dimensional Seduction joins HIDIVE’s expanding line-up of simulcasts for its Summer 2024 season.

“We’re pleased to announce the addition of 2.5 Dimensional Seduction as the newest exclusive series to join HIDIVE’s simulcast line-up this summer,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “Cosplay is synonymous with anime and fans will now have a chance to celebrate it with this sure-to-please new romcom drama!”

In advance of the series’ debut in July, HIDIVE will host the North American premiere of Episode 1 on July 4 at Anime Expo 2024 in Los Angeles. The screening will be held at 9 p.m. in the L.A. Convention Center, 403AB (Level 2 Concourse).

Dungeon People

Based on the popular 2020 seinen manga by Futami Sui (serialized in Futabasha’s Web Action Comics, published in English by Seven Seas Ent.), Dungeon People will stream exclusively on HIDIVE starting in July as one of the Summer 2024 simulcast offerings. “This new fantasy comedy will entertain subscribers with a dungeon-delving world of adventure that they won’t want to miss!” Ledford commented.

Synopsis: On the hunt for her missing father, master thief Clay heads off into an unexplored dungeon — but much to her surprise, the dungeon’s caretaker offers her a job! Thievery hasn’t worked for her thus far, so perhaps this new career path will take her closer to finding her dad. But change is never easy. From interviewing monster guardians to positioning traps to confound would-be explorers, Clay has a lot to learn about what it means to be one of the dungeon people.

Dungeon People is directed by Sayaka Yamai, written by Toshimitsu Takeuchi, with character design by Yumi Nakayama and production by OLM. The series stars Sayaka Senbongi as Clay and Sayumi Suzushiro as Bell.

Ahead of the series’ debut next month, HIDIVE will host the North American premiere of Dungeon People Episode 1 on July 6 at Anime Expo 2024; 5:45 p.m. in 403AB on Level 2 Concourse of the LACC.
