At the onset of the big Annecy animation festival, former Netflix EMEA Director Alexi Wheeler announces the creation of his new U.K.-based production company, Wheel In Motion. This new venture is set up jointly with Superprod Group, establishing the France-base conglomerate’s expanded presence within this market across the Channel.
Wheeler brings more than two decades of career experience to his latest endeavor, most recently spending five years at Netflix where his latest purview was leading animated series for EMEA. Prior to Netflix, he served as VP of International Production and Development at Nickelodeon.
Wheeler has contributed to the success of animated and live-action shows such as Peppa Pig, Big Tree City, Sharkdog, The Last Bus, Zero Chill and Heartstopper. His feature film credentials include work on the Academy Award-nominated Robin Robin and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, both collaborations between Netflix and famous English studio Aardman.
Wheel In Motion plans to develop an array of new shows and movies targeting diverse audiences, encompassing both animation and live-action productions.
With the announcement, Wheeler expressed his enthusiasm for his collaboration with Clement Calvet and Jérémie Fajner, co-founders of Superprod Group. He regards Superprod as “one of the very best studios in the world right now” and believes that “the timing is perfect for a new and dynamic production company that is able to move with the times, deliver on audience needs and to establish a bold and exciting new slate of content.”

Wheel In Motion joins the Superprod Group’s operations across animation studios in Paris, Angoulême, Milan and Luxembourg, as well as offices in Los Angeles and New York, including Superprod Animation, Red Monk Studio, Studio 352 and Melusine Productions, the latter of which is in competition at Annecy Festival with its feature film Slocum.
