Warner Bros. Games announced that it’s massive character mash-up fighting title MultiVersus will be adding Genndy Tartakovsky’s fan-favorite animated hero Samurai Jack and Tim Burton ghoulie Beetlejuice (who returns in the sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in theaters September 6) to its growing roster of characters as part of Season 2: Back in Time. The katana wielding Cartoon Network star is available with the Season 2 launch today (July 23), while the troublesome spirit of 1980s movie fame arrives later in the season.
After being flung into the future by the evil demon Aku, the warrior known as Samurai Jack embarked on a relentless quest to return to the past. With his unmatched swordsmanship and incredible agility, he’s truly a force to be reckoned with, and in the new MultiVersus gameplay trailer, Samurai Jack’s fighting skills as a Bruiser class character are on full display, which utilize his mystical katana blade, agile footwork, and quick reflexes to send opponents flying off the map. The video also provides a first look at the Righteous Warrior Jack character variant, which will be available for in-game purchase on July 23.
Additionally, Ranked mode is added to MultiVersus at the start of Season 2 today, giving players the opportunity to participate in 1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2 matches while competing for leaderboard points to earn exclusive rank-based cosmetic rewards. Season 2 will also include the Water Tower, a new map where players can battle on the iconic Warner Bros. Water Tower, with surprise nods to popular Warner Bros. Discovery characters and franchises.
Developed by Player First Games, MultiVersus is available now as a free download for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), with full cross-play and cross-progression support.
The free-to-play platform fighter features an ever-expanding roster of popular characters based on Warner Bros. Discovery franchises. The current roster of characters include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Black Adam and The Joker (DC); Shaggy and Velma (Scooby-Doo); Bugs Bunny, Tasmanian Devil a.k.a. Taz, and Marvin the Martian (Looney Tunes); Arya Stark (Game of Thrones); Tom & Jerry (Tom and Jerry); Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, and Banana Guard (Adventure Time); Steven Universe and Garnet (Steven Universe); Iron Giant (The Iron Giant), LeBron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy); Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith (Rick and Morty); Gizmo and Stripe (Gremlins); Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th); Agent Smith (The Matrix); Samurai Jack (Samurai Jack); Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice); and an original creature named Reindog.
