The Line Producing ‘Warframe: 1999’ Animated Short

BAFTA-nominated studio The Line Animation announces it will direct and produce an anime-inspired short to promote the next major update to video game Warfram:1999 later this year. The news was shared by developer Digital Extremes during TennoCon, where they unveiled a styleframe from the project.

The film will be directed by Venla Linna, known for her directorial debut film Heavenly Vessel. The Line team will be sharing more teasers throughout production, giving Warframe fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes on production, promising to show characters in a whole new format.

“This collaboration with the Digital Extremes team is incredibly special to us. It’s not everyday you get to work alongside such a deeply passionate creative team for an equally passionate community!” said Laura Breaden, Managing Director at The Line. “The project has started off beautifully and we absolutely cannot wait to reveal more as the production progresses.”

The short is due to release in November. Fans can track its progress with behind-the-scenes content, concept art, character designs and more through The Line’s social media channels (Instagram, X, LinkedIn and Facebook) over the intervening months.

The Line Animation, founded by Tim McCourt, Sam Taylor,
Wesley Louis, James Duveen, Bjørn-Erik Aschim and Max Taylor, specializes in hand-drawn 2D animation. The studio’s portfolio built over the past decade includes collaborations with Gorillaz, Marvel and Mercedes-Benz.
