Emmy Award-winning platform YES App has teamed up with Tzero Studios to step onto the animation field with HexClad Presents Bronx Buds, a new baseball-themed animated children’s series premiering on Saturday morning, August 17. The series follows the adventures of The Pinstripes, a fictitious Bronx-based youth baseball team, as they encounter “laughter, life lessons, unexpected curveballs and unbreakable friendships.”
The series will be available to registered YES App users in its regional coverage territory, which includes New York State, Connecticut, north and central New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, as well as to subscribers of the YES National feed throughout the country who have the YES App.
Bronx Buds is built to foster a love of baseball, promote team spirit and the bonds of friendship in its young viewers as they tag along with teammates Riv, Bash, Oscar and their friends. The voice roster includes Tzero co-founders Justin Shenkarow, an Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner, and Tom Borowski. Tzero Studios members working on this new YES App series have also worked on shows such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Hey Arnold! (for which Shenkarow voiced the character Harold Berman), Beavis and Butt-head and Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas.
New seven-minute episodes of Bronx Buds will roll out on YES App on the Saturday mornings of Aug. 17, Aug. 24, Aug. 31, Sept. 21, Sept. 28 and Oct. 5.
The new series is a component of HexClad’s larger partnership as the “Official Kitchenware Partner” of the YES Network and the New York Yankees, which was announced earlier this year. It joins YES App’s roster of original app-exclusive programming, which includes the series The Story of My Number Presented by New York Lottery, Home Plate: New York, The Balance and Bronx Beat.
YES launched the YES App regionally in March 2021, and it quickly became the #1 free sports app in the Apple App Store. Direct-to-consumer access to the YES Network has been available through the YES App since March 2023. In addition to its app-exclusive programming, the app also features a live stream of the YES Network. The YES App offers customizable push notifications, personalized content, live stats, play-along games and watch-party functions in conjunction with YES’ exclusive Yankees and Nets telecasts. It has won two New York Emmy Awards in its first two years of eligibility.
