Lakeshore Records (lakeshorerecords.com) is set to release Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, August 2, featuring sparkling songs and music celebrating the first full-length film starring everyone’s favorite maritime Texan squirrel, Sandy Cheeks — a project that also lands in tandem with the 25th anniversary of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants.
Artists such as Carolyn Lawrence (the voice of Sandy), rock icon Linda Perry, singer-songwriter Tami Neilson, singer Chantal Claret, producer Mickey Petralia and the trio of composers known as Moniker, all come out to pay homage on the soundtrack. The album’s music supervisor and executive producer is Karyn Rachtman. The film starring Lawrence and longtime voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, premieres today on Netflix.
To mark the OST debut, Animation Magazine is just nutty with delight to preview two tracks for Sandy’s fans: “My Name Is Sandy Cheeks,” a breezy, bubbly tune performed by Lawrence, written by Neilson and produced by Neilson and Petralia; and “Focus Group,” an energetic backdrop composed by Moniker.
In the new movie, Bikini Bottom is scooped from the ocean, spurring scientific squirrel Sandy Cheeks and her pal SpongeBob SquarePants to saddle up for a trip to the surface world of Texas to save their town.
