‘Memoir of a Snail’ Official Trailer Debuts Ahead of October Release

Academy Award winner Adam Elliot (Harvie Krumpet, Mary & Max) is back on the big screen with a new touching stop-motion movie, Memoir of a Snail. After winning the coveted Cristal award for feature film at Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June and recently playing at the Telluride Film Festival, IFC Films will release the pic in U.S. theaters on October 25 and has just dropped a new trailer.

Synopsis: Grace Pudel is a lonely misfit with an affinity for collecting ornamental snails and an intense love for books. At a young age, when Grace is separated from her fire-breathing twin brother Gilbert, she falls into a spiral of anxiety and angst. Despite a continued series of hardships, inspiration and hope emerge when she strikes up an enduring friendship with an elderly eccentric woman named Pinky, who is full of grit and lust for life. From Academy Award-winning® animation writer and director Adam Elliot, Memoir of a Snail is a poignant, heartfelt, hilarious chronicle of the life of an outsider finding her confidence and silver linings amongst the clutter of everyday life.

The voice cast is led by Sarah Snook (Succession, Koala Man) as Grace, Eric Bana (Dirty John, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers) as James the Magistrate, Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook, Back to the Outback) as Pinky and Kodi Smit-McPhee (X-Men films, ParaNorman) as Gilbert Pudel.

The film is written and directed by Elliot and produced by Arenamedia and Snails Pace Films. The music is composed by Elena Kats-Chernin (The Divorce), who previously contributed to Elliot’s Mary & Max soundtrack. Producers are Liz Kearny and Elliot.

Memoir of a Snail will release on its home turf in Australia on October 17 through Madman Entertainment. The film has been picked up for distribution in numerous territories around the world, including France (Wild Bunch), Spain (Madfer), Taiwan (Hooray Film) and more; Charades handles international sales. Upcoming festival engagements include the official selection of the Ottawa International Animation Festival (September 25-29).
