The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) will host a behind-the-scenes look at the story and artistry of DreamWorks Animaton’s The Wild Robot on September 28 at the National Arts Centre(NAC) in Ottawa.
As part of the Festival’s Animation Exposé programming, the Artist Talk will explore how the creative team combined storyboards, scripts, concept art, and models to portray a captivating and emotional story.
In addition to the Artist Talk, the OIAF will be screening The Wild Robot on September 25 at the ByTowne Cinema ahead of the film’s theatrical release on September 27.

Moderated by Ramin Zahed, Animation Magazine’s Editor in Chief, “A Wild Vision: The Story & Artistry Behind DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot” will feature:

Following the Artist Talk, Sanders will be available for a free signing session at 3:00 p.m. in the Canal Foyer at the NAC.
An animated science fiction survival film based on the book series of the same name by Peter Brown, The Wild Robot follows the journey of the robot ROZZUM Unit 7134, “Roz” for short. Shipwrecked on an uninhabited island, Roz must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling. The film features the voices of Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill and more.
