‘My Hero Academia: You’re Next’ Sets NorAm Premiere at Beyond Fest

L.A. genre film festival Beyond Fest announces it will present the North American premiere screening of My Hero Academia: You’re Next as part of its soon-to-be-announced 2024 festival line up.  The event screening will take place on Sunday, October 6 at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on Friday, October 11.

Popular Japanese voice actors Daiki Yamashita, who voices Izuku Midoriya, and Kenta Miyake, who voices All Might and Dark Might, are set to attend the premiere event.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next is the fourth theatrical release in the successful anime series and the first to be distributed by Toho International, the company that brought the breakout Oscar Award winning Godzilla Minus One to theaters.  The film opened in Japan on August 2, ranking No. 1 in Japanese box office at release with positive reviews. As of August 25, Japanese box office revenue has exceeded 2.74 billion yen with a theatrical attendance of over 1.9 million.

My Hero Academia is the highly successful Japanese anime series based on the popular comics created by Kohei Horikoshi, which have sold over 100 million copies worldwide. My Hero Academia: You’re Next marks the fourth theatrical release for the franchise and sees Deku and the other heroes of U.A. High School facing a new threat — a mysterious figure calling himself “Dark Might” who claims to be the new Symbol of Peace.

The movie, produced by Bones, will begin its theatrical run on October 11 in the U.S. and Canada with both English subtitles and English dub releases.
