Netflix Debuts the First 4 Minutes of ‘Twilight of the Gods’

Twilight of the Gods

The bloody battle between mortals and Norse gods is night, with Zack Snyder’s hotly anticipated adult animated series Twilight of the Gods premiering Thursday, September 19. Rousing the troops, Netflix today debuted the first four minutes of the show on TUDUM as part of its Geeked Week reveals.

In the opening scene, Leif (voiced by Stuart Martin), a mortal king, is sailing to his bride Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks), an iron-willed warrior, and recalls meeting her on the battlefield. Later in the series, Sigrid and Leif survive the wrath of Thor (Pilou Asbæk), which sets them — and a crew of crusaders — on a merciless mission for justice against all odds.

“I think what [animation] does is, it allows us to be really truthful in our storytelling… it allows the audience to experience a thing that’s really unexpected and really exciting,” Snyder told TUDUM.

The eight-episode series also features the voices of Rahul Kohli as Egill, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Jamie Clayton as Seid-Kona, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Hervor, Kristofer Hivju as Andvari, Thea Sofie Loch Næss as Thyra, John Noble as Odin and Peter Stormare as Ulfr, among others.

From Stone Quarry Animation, the animated series is co-created by Zack Snyder, Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco and executive produced by Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller and Jay Oliva. The animation house is Xilam Animation. Zack Snyder directs the first and final episode, while additional directors include Jay Oliva and Andrew Tamandl with Tim Divar and Dave Hartman.
