A new kind of warfare descends in Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, a six-episode half-hour event series coming to Netflix on October 17. The Geeked Week festivities debuted an exclusive clip from this gritty chapter of the Mobile Suit Gundam story, which is produced in realistic CG animation powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5.
About the show: Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance takes viewers to the European front during the One Year War, a conflict first depicted in the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. The trailer released today explores familiar themes of conflict and action, as well as the drama between pilots operating humanoid weapons known as “Mobile Suits.”
Set in Universal Century 0079, the story begins when the Principality of Zeon declares its independence from the Earth Federation government, igniting a state of war. In the initial stages, Zeon forces gain the upper hand with their powerful new weapon, the mobile suit. However, their inability to fully conquer Earth leads to a prolonged stalemate.
Eleven months into the war, the Federation Forces captured a base in Zeon-occupied Eastern Europe. In response, a Zeon composite battalion is dispatched to reclaim the base. Among its members are Solari (voiced by Celia Massingham) and her Red Wolf Squadron, a newly arrived mobile suit team from space. Which side will finally emerge victorious?
From Bandai Namco Filmworks, the series is produced in Japan by Sunrise in collaboration with Safehouse. The screenplay is by Gavin Highnight (Tekken: Bloodline, Transformers: Cyberverse, Star Wars Resistance) and directed by Erasmus Brosdau (Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness; games Star Citizen, Rise: Son of Rome, Crysis series). The creative staff also includes character designer Manuel Augusto Dischinger Moura, mech designer Kimitoshi Yamane and composer Wilbert Roget, II.
Ken Iyadomi is series producer for Requiem; Hiroaki Yura is animation producer & sound director; executive directors are Makoto Asanuma, Naohiro Ogata, Taiki Sakurai and Gavin Hignight.
