Sony Pictures Entertainment today brought the official Paddington in Peru trailer out of the jungle depths, previewing a wild new adventure for the city-dwelling bear. The spot follows the CG-animated character as he sets out to get back in touch with his roots in the Peruvian Amazonia, with footage flashing back to his cub-hood, mishaps with other digital animals and a charming homage to Buster Keaton.
Sony will release the PG-rated film in U.S. theaters on January 17, 2025.
Synopsis: Full of Paddington’s signature blend of wit, charm and laugh-out-loud humor, Paddington in Peru finds the beloved, marmalade-loving bear on an exciting, high-stakes adventure. When Paddington discovers his beloved Aunt Lucy has gone missing from the Home for Retired Bears, he and the Brown family head to the wilds of Peru to look for her, the only clue to her whereabouts a spot marked on an enigmatic map. Determined to solve the mystery, Paddington embarks on a thrilling quest through the rainforests of the Amazon to find his aunt…and may also uncover one of the world’s most legendary treasures.
The third Paddington film, based on the classic children’s books by Michael Bond, stars Hugh Bonneville as Mr. Brown, Emily Mortimer as Mrs. Brown, Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird, Jim Broadbent as Mr. Gruber, Imelda Staunton as the voice of Paddington’s Aunt Lucy, Carla Tous as Gina Cabot, Madeleine Harris as Judy Brown, Samuel Joslin as Jonathan Brown, Olivia Colman as The Reverend Mother, Antonio Banderas as Hunter Cabot and Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington.
Dougal Wilson — who received a Directors Guild Award nomination for his work on the AT&T spot “Trains” and is known for creating spots for John Lewis and music videos for Coldplay, Massive Attack and LCD Soundsystem — makes his feature film directorial debut with Paddington in Peru. He directs from a screenplay by Mark Burton and Jon Foster & James Lamont. The film is produced by Rosie Alison.
