Scholastic Entertainment and 9 Story Media Group will bring their new joint slate of new kids and family programming at MIPCOM this month. Among their new series is a CG-animated take on the classic 2D favorite: The Magic School Bus: Mighty Explorers will offer all-new episodes featuring the talking, transforming, Magic Bus, plus Liz, Ms. Frizzle’s favorite lizard sidekick, and six-year-old kid explorers – Lily, Wyatt, and Benny – as they team up and zoom out on some of the funniest, wildest action-adventure explorations yet! Together, the Mighty Explorers will answer questions like “How does sound work?” “Why is the sun so hot?” “How do fish breathe underwater?” and many, many more. Curiosity is their roadmap so there’s no telling where their adventures will take them next.
Also on tap is Momoguro, a new 2D-animated series based on the popular Roblox game from Baobab Studios. Set in a fantastical world full of strange creatures, two mortal enemies are thrust together by the ancient and forbidden power of Momoguro. They must join forces to fight a powerful malevolent force that seeks to destroy them all.
The third new property is Juno The Jellyfish, a preschool CG-animated comedy about a a six-year-old jelly with sparkles in her belly! Juno is the middle child of a big, joyful jellyfish family and is exploring what makes her shine. Created by author Jess Hitchman (Ava In Code Land, The Inflatables, In Every House, In Every Street), 9 Story and Scholastic Entertainment have developed Juno The Jellyfish in partnership with Crayola Studios.
New acquisitions also include The Woohoos!, The Singalings and SciShow Kids. New episodes of A Kind of Spark (season two); Let’s Go, Bananas!; Dylan’s Playtime Adventures; Daniel Tiger (season seven); Donkey Hodie (season three); Open Season: Call of Nature; and Lu & the Bally Bunch are also on the slate.
Last June, global children’s publishing, education and media company Scholastic (the global children’s publishing, education and media company) closed its $186 million deal to acquire full economic interest in leading kids’ media production company, 9 Story Media Through the investment, Scholastic acquired 100% of the economic interest in and a minority of voting rights in 9 Story Media, the studio behind TV shows such as Doc McStuffins, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Octonauts and Wild Kratts.
