Three Companies Make Offers to Buy Financially Troubled French Studio, TeamTO

Three offers are on the table to buy Paris-based CG animation studio TeamTO, which declared insolvency las month. TransPerfect, Hildegarde and Gabriel Finance have stepped forward to buy the award-winning studio, which has produced a wide range of animated shows over the past 19 years, including Babar and the Adventures of Badou, Angelo Rules, Oscar’s Oasis, Skylanders Academy, PJ Masks, Mighty Mike, City of Ghosts and Jade Armor.

TransPerfect has offered $431,000 and more than $2 million in additional capital financing, while educational outfit Hildegarde, is offering $10,000 to add a CG animation studio to its collection, which also includes Les Armateurs, Folimage and Gebeka Films. Meanwhile, film and distribution company Gabriel Finance is willing to pay $571,000 for the studio, but it plans to redirect the studio to only focus on series production and lose its games, digital and R&D divisions. TeamTO will also be only working on two shows a year. The financing org believes that TeamTO’s popluar catalog of shows will generate around $323,000 in annual revenue. All three offers will be evaluated by the Commercial Court of Paris on Oct. 30.

TeamTO was founded in 2005 by husband-and-wife team Guillaume Hellouin and Corinne Kouper and Caroline Souris. Well-respected by the global animation community and a popular fixture at the animation markets and events around the world, TeamTO’s most recent shows include Jade Armor (two seasons), Angelo Rules (now in its sixth season), Behind the Beats and Creature Cases. Among the studio’s third-party service work are Kiya & the Kimoja Heroes, Rabbids Invasion, Calimero and Dew Drop Diaries.

Among the many popular TeamTo projects through the years: Mighty Mike, Angelo Rules, The Yellow Bird and Jade Armor.
