The estimated total box office numbers for 2024 are in, and Pixar, Disney, Universal/Illumination have emerged as the top winners with Inside Out 2, Moana 2 and Despicable Me 4 landing on the top three spots of the animation feature charts both in the U.S. and worldwide. It’s interesting to see Christmas releases like Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King also making an appearance on the top-10 list with only two weeks at the box office. With the exception of DreamWorks The Wild Robot, Sony’s The Garfield Movie, Universal/Illumination’s Migration and Paramount’s Transformers One, the box office list was dominated by sequels.
