Goya Award Nominations Toast Spanish & European Animation

The Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain announced this morning the nominees for the 39th edition of the Goya Awards, which will be presented on February 8, 2025 in Granada.

Dubbed “the Spanish Oscars” by Hollywood, the Goyas recognized outstanding achievement in Spain’s cinema scene, as well as recognizing other European efforts. This year, the dedicated Animated Film and Animated Short categories recognize five nominees each.

Additionally, Gints Zilbalodis’ Flow has been included as the sole animated entry for Best European Film, representing Latvia; “Show Me” from Buffalo Kids, composed by Fernando Velázquez, is up for Best Original Song; and Dragonkeeper composer Arturo Cardelus is nominated for Best Original Music.
