Following this summer’s announcement of a new animated series greenlit for the streamer, Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation are reportedly adding a full length animated movie to their Ghostbusters partnership.
Currently in early development with details under wraps, the feature film project has attached Kris Pearn (The Willoughbys, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) to direct.
The new Ghostbusters animated series has attached multi-Emmy-winner Elliott Kalan (HouseBroken, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Daily Show) as writer and showrunner, as well as executive producer alongside Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) of Ghost Corps, Inc.
The new series is the third fully-animated interpretation in the franchise started by Ivan Reitman’s 1984 live-action movie. Daytime Emmy-nominated The Real Ghostbusters, produced by Columbia Pictures Television and DIC, ran from 1986 to 1991, followed by Extreme Ghostbusters in 1997.
Pearn is represented by UTA and manager Jason Grode.
