Santa Claus gets a helping hand from Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails and Knuckles in a new short, A Very Sonic Christmas, released to YouTube by Paramount Pictures today in the lead-up to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (in theaters December 20).
The stop-motion piece pays homage to the holiday classics crafted by Rankin/Bass, and was animated by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (Robot Chicken). David H. Brooks (Mickey Saves Christmas, The Predator Holiday Special) directs, and the feature film voice stars reprise their roles: Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Keanu Reeves as Shadow, Idris Elba as Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, with Adam Pally, who plays Wade Whipple in the franchise, as Santa.
Directed once again by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sees Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow — a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
