AMC’s ‘Pantheon’ Now Streaming on Netflix

The adult animated cyberpunk saga Pantheon has uploaded to a new streaming life on Netflix, where the first season (eight episodes) is available to watch now.

The first primetime toon from AMC Networks, the critically acclaimed series was canceled after one season despite its two-season order as part of a tax write-down at the turning of the year 2023, and was removed from AMC+ and the AMC-owned anime platform HIDIVE. The second season was picked up by Prime Video and released to streaming for Australia and New Zealand in October 2023.

The recipient of a perfect 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, Pantheon is based on the short stories of award-winning author Kevin Liu. The show centers on a bullied teenager (voiced by Katie Chang) who finds support in a mysterious online friend, which turns out to be the uploaded Cloud-based consciousness of her deceased father (Daniel Dae Kim). This kind of “Uploaded Intelligence” is the pivot point of a global conspiracy threatening to unleash the next evolution of world war.

Also starring Paul Dano and Taylor Schilling, the anime-style 2D series (with animation provided by Titmouse) was created and executive produced by Craig Silverstein (TURN: Washington’s Spies, Bones, Nikita) as part of his overall deal with AMC. Juno Lee (The Venture Bros., Star Trek: Lower Decks) served as animation director as well as executive producing for Titmouse alongside Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina. DR Movie in South Korea and Incessant Rain in Nepal were the show’s overseas production studios.
