DreamWorks’ ‘The Wild Robot’ Sets Peacock Streaming Premiere

DreamWorks Animation’s critically acclaimed The Wild Robot is bringing Roz to a new world of streaming, as the film is set to premiere on Peacock on January 24. The CG animated feature, based on the No. 1 New York Times bestselling novel by Peter Brown, has been nominated for four Golden Globes, three Critics Choice Awards and 10 Annie Awards.

Synopsis: The epic adventure stars Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o (Us, the Black Panther franchise) as Roz, a robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must adapt to the harsh surroundings. Gradually Roz starts building relationships with the animals on the island, including a clever fox voiced by Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian), and becomes the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling named Brightbill voiced by Kit Connor (Ready Player One, Heartstopper). The Wild robot is a powerful story about self-discovery, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature, and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things.

Directed and written by three-time Academy Award nominee Chris Sanders (The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon, Lilo & Stitch), the film also features the voices of Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill and Catherine O’Hara. The Wild Robot also showcases music by Emmy- and Grammy-nominated composer and Oscar winner Kris Bowers, along with two original songs from Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Maren Morris.

Taking the top spot at the domestic box office on its opening weekend, the film’s streaming debut comes following a successful theatrical run, crossing $323 million globally and becoming the No. 1 non-sequel animation of 2024.

Fans can also find previous DreamWorks Animation theatrical features streaming on Peacock, including The Bad GuysKung Fu Panda 1-3, Shrek 1-3, Spirit Untamed and Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.
