Today, l’Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma (the French film academy) revealed the 11 nominations across 24 categories for the 2025 César awards. The total includes three nominees each for animated feature and animated short, and four for visual effects.

Notably, Michel Hazanavicius’ animated feature film about a found family formed amid the Holocaust, The Most Precious of Cargoes, has been nominated in three categories: Animated Feature, Adaptation (Hazanavicius and author Jean-Claude Grumberg) and Original Music (Alexandre Desplat).

The Count of Monte-Cristo was the most-nominated film with 14 nods, followed by L’Amour Ouf (13) and Oscars frontrunner Emilia Pérez (12).
