HIDIVE Debuts ‘Flower and Asura’ Tuesday

Anime fans can find stirring inspiration in Flower and Asura, a new anime drama about finding your true path set to premiere in simulcast on AMC Network’s HIDIVE streamer tomorrow (Tuesday, January 7) at 12:35 p.m. EST. Announced as part of the platform’s Winter 2025 slate, the series is based on the manga by Sound! Euphonium creator Ayano Takeda.

Synopsis: On the picturesque island of Tonakijima with a population of only 600, Hana’s favorite pastime is reading literature to the island’s children. Her narration skills are second to none, and the president of the school’s broadcasting club immediately recognizes Hana’s ability to engage with others and draw them into her recitations. Invited by Mizuki to join the club, Hana embarks on a journey to discover her true love of reading — and maybe even change the course of her life along the way.

The seinen story for viewers 14 and up is produced by Studio Bind (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) and directed by Ayumu Uwano (Wandering Witch – The Journey of Elaina). The original manga was written by Takeda and illustrated by Musshu.

The cast is led by Minori Fujidera (Auru Omega in Waccha PriMagi!) as Hana Haruyama and Miyuri Shimabukuro (Carole Stanley in Carole & Tuesday) as Mizuki Usurai, with Kouji Yusa (Gin Ichimaru in Bleach) as Hiromi Kichijouji, Yoko Hikasa (Mio Akiyama in K-ON!) as Shura Saionj, Fuka Izumi (Utena Hiiragi in Gushing Over Magical Girls) as An Natsue, Kiyono Yasuno (Megumi Kato in Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) as Ryoko Totonoi, Taito Ban (Jin-Woo Sung in Solo Leveling) as Setaro Hakoyama, Seiichiro Yamashita (Cid in The Eminence in Shadow) as Matsuyuki Akiyama and Shoya Chiba (Kiyotaka Ayanokouji in Classroom of the Elite) as Shudai Toga.
