Revenant Animation Studio Teases Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Feature ‘Pony Express’

Award-winning U.K. animation studio Revenant has revealed first-look imagery from its original sci-fi project, Pony Express.

Having created commercial work for video games like Riot’s Valorant and Whydah’s Iron Sail as well as brand films like “Future Genesis” (Oakley x Kamp Grizzly), experiential animation like Yeo’s Journey (Cheddar Gorge & Caves) and motion design for film, the studio is developing a proof of concept for Pony Express with the aim of creating a full animated feature.

Synopsis from the studio’s website:

A dark fate looms over a remote planet. Most of its inhabitants are in the grip of a powerful addiction, it teeters on the brink of collapse.

Iridescence — known as “Iri” — are small, insect-like creatures. They carry a drug that the people of the planet are addicted to. Potency varies between species. Also, unknown to many, they hold historical data that could save the planet.

Ventura, our main character, possesses fragmented memories of her youth. Despite struggling with her own addiction previously, she has a strong pull to the Iri and believes there’s more to them than the drug.

Meanwhile the Marauders, evil dealers in the drug, are hell-bent on acquiring all Iri for their black market value.

A sudden memory leads Ventura to discover the Iri’s full capabilities. A high-stakes struggle unfolds as Ventura and the Marauders fight to protect or to exploit the Iri.

During one of these battles, Ventura stumbles upon the Iri that bears the most potent version of the drug and the importance of her mission intensifies.
