SC Films has added Jungle Beat 2 the Past, the second feature film in the popular South African animation franchise Jungle Beat, to its sales slate ahead of the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
This CG family adventure is co-directed by Canadian Brent Dawes (Young David, Jungle Beat, Jungle Beat: The Movie) and South African Sam Wilson, who wrote the first movie and directed for spin-off series Munki and Trunk and Jungle Beat Explorers.
Synopsis: One morning, Munki and Trunk wake up to discover a stegosaurus in their jungle! It has accidentally fallen through a hole in time made by their friend, Fneep the alien. When they try to carry the dinosaur back to the past Trunk falls into the time hole too, and ends up stuck in prehistoric times.
Meanwhile, back in the present, history is changing, and Munki gets stuck in an alien zoo! But Munki and Trunk aren’t going to let little things like time and space come between them. Working together across time, along with Trunk’s new dinosaur friends, they put history back on track, and teach the cave-aliens who are trying to conquer the Earth that their clubs are no match for the rhythm of the jungle!
Philip Cunningham, Jacqui Cunningham, Tim Keller and Rita Mbanga produce the film for Cape Town animation studio Sunrise Productions and Mauritius-based Sandcastle Studios.
The Jungle Beat TV series has been airing since 2003. The first film, Jungle Beat: The Movie, premiered at Annecy in 2020 and was picked up by Netflix.
