The indie toon champions of Animation Block Party have announced the premiere of the new Animation for Kids festival this summer. Taking place August 9, this special edition will be held at the New England Aquarium in Boston —a research and conservation organization that has cared for our ocean animals for more than 50 years.
Located at 1 Central Wharf, the New England Aquarium will host the Animation Block Party 2025 programming at the Simons Theatre wing of the Aquarium, providing an ideal big screen setting for visually stunning animated shorts.
The festival’s Animation for Kids aquarium showcase will open for submissions this April at the Animation Block Party website.
Animation Block Party has a long history of events in Boston, hosting midnight screening series at the Coolidge Corner throughout the mid-2000s and also appearing at the Somerville Theater in 2015 as part of the Brooklyn Brewery Mash tour.
