Another accomplished actor has boarded the voice roster for Nickelodeon Movies and Avatar Studios’ upcoming animated feature Aang: The Last Airbender, set in the world of the acclaimed Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Variety revealed that Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Mickey 17, Beef, The Walking Dead) has been cast in to-be-revealed role.
The film is the firs tin a planned trilogy of theatrical features from Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios, and is slated for release through Paramount Pictures on January 30, 2026.

Yeun is no stranger to the world of Avatar, having voiced Wan, the first Avatar, in The Legend of Korra. As a voice actor for animation, he currently stars in Prime Video’s Invincible, and has previously performed key roles for Tuca & Bertie, the Tales of Arcadia shows and Voltron: Legendary Defender, as well as a number of characters for Final Space.
Aang is being directed by series alum Lauren Montgomery (Superman: Doomsday, Wonder Woman, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) and co-directed by William Mata (Dora and the Fantastical Creatures), with series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko executive producing alongside Eric Coleman.
At CinemaCon 2024, Paramount revealed that the movie will voice star singer-songwriter-actor Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as an unnamed villain, Dionne Quan as Toph, Jessica Matten as Katara and Román Zaragoza as Sokka. The film’s story is set years after the events of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series and will center on its core cast of characters as adults.
Yeun is represented by WME, Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox and Narrative.
