Sky Kids has extended its commitment to Magic Light Pictures’ award-winning and BAFTA-nominated preschool property Pip and Posy by commissioning three standalone seasonal specials of the series. Featuring a host of exciting new characters and locations, the first of the specials will air in Q4 2025.
The property centers on and celebrates the heartwarming and humorous friendship of besties Pip and Posy — its laughter and games, its ups and downs — and aims to show preschoolers how to see the world from someone else’s point of view, and how to build lasting friendships with kindness, resilience and flexibility. The first two series (104 x 7’) were a major hit on Sky Kids and Channel 5’s Milkshake!
“We’re thrilled that Sky Kids is continuing its commitment to Pip and Posy by commissioning these 22’ specials,” said Michael Rose, Executive Producer & Co-Founder, Magic Light Pictures. “This longer format enables us to expand Pip and Posy’s wonderful world of friendship and play with new characters and bigger stories to delight our young audience.”
Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content, Sky Kids, commented, “We’re very excited about these new seasonal specials of Pip and Posy. Combining play, friendship and problem-solving in beautifully crafted stories, the series is a huge favorite with our young viewers and we’re really looking forward to sharing these new, longer-length adventures with them at special times of the year.”
Pip and Posy is based on characters from Nosy Crow’s million-selling picture book series from multi-award-winning illustrator Axel Scheffler and author Camilla Reid first published in 2011.
Magic Light Pictures holds the global distribution and merchandising rights to Pip and Posy (excluding publishing, which are held by Nosy Crow) and has launched a full consumer products program to complement the property. Products already available at retail include a full master toy range from partner Bandai, tie-in publishing from Nosy Crow, puzzles from Ravensburger, compilation magazines with Kennedy Publishing, online gifting from Star Editions, apparel with Blues Group and nightwear with Aykroyds/TDP. Plus, more product to come with socks from Misirli, home décor with Stickerscape, further apparel with Brand Alliance and Audio Toys from Tonies.
Pip and Posy currently airs on over 32 international broadcasters including ZDF in Germany, France TV, Rai in Italy and ABC Australia.
The specials are directed by Leigh Fieldhouse, with Stefano Dunne as associate producer, Hannah Elder as line producer, and Vici King, Michael Rose and Martin Pope as executive producers. Animation services are provided by Blue Zoo.
