‘Trigun Stargaze’ New Anime Set for 2026, Masako Sato to Direct

The “final phase” of 2023’s Trigun Stampede (based on the original Trigun manga by Yasuhiro Nightow) is kitting up to bring gunslinger Vash back to screens in Trigun Stargaze. The anime franchise’s official Japanese X feed posted a striking teaser visual and 2026 release window, as well as revealing key creative team appointments.

As described by Crunchyroll, which streams the series, Trigun Stampede centers on rookie reporter Meryl Stryfe and her jaded partner, who set out to discover why “gunslinging pacifist” Vash the Stampede has a $6 million bounty on his head … and discover his vengeful twin brother, Million Knives, is to blame.

Trigun Stargaze is being directed by Masako Sato (Haikyu!! To the Top), with series composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) with scripts based on story concepts by Takehiko Oki. Concept designs and previous Stampede character designs are by Kouji Tajima (GANTZ:0). Studio Orange once again handles animation production.

The teaser visual was drawn by the project’s new character designer, Kiyotaka Oshiyama (DEVILMAN crybaby; director, Look Back), and depicts Vash turned aside, holding his trademark oversized gun, accompanied by the words “Existence and Pain.”
