‘South Park’ Sets Long-Awaited Season 27 Premiere with New Teaser

Comedy Central today announced that Season 27 of South Park will premiere Wednesday, July 9 — and the new season’s teaser promises a valiant attempt to make global events look even more absurd through the acclaimed show’s signature animated lens.

Season 26 wrapped up on Comedy Central in March of 2023, with fans biding over through three special programming events on Paramount+ last year.

The spot reintroduces us to the South Park kids and their families (plus a special cameo by a jet-pack toting Diddy), proclaiming “The acclaimed drama returns.” First-look footage is laced with references to the Los Angeles wildfires, international tensions, ketamine therapy and the occasional plane crash.

The hit animated franchise South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, debuted on Comedy Central August 13, 1997. Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny were first seen in the animated short The Spirit of Christmas.

Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are executive producers, along with Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell and Vernon Chatman are producers. Christopher Brion is the Creative Director of South Park Digital Studios. South Park’s website is SouthPark.cc.com.
