Playmates Toys has been granted the worldwide master toy licensee for Breakthrough Animation’s upcoming series Atomic Betty. The deal was negotiated on behalf of Breakthrough by Breakthrough Animation Licensing Agency of Record Joy Tashjian of Joy Tashjian Marketing Group.
The Atomic Betty toyline, which will encompass dolls, playsets, action figures and accessories, is slated to roll out in January of 2005. The animated series will make its debut on Cartoon Network this fall. It will also air on TELETOON in Canada, M6 in France, Teletoon in France and Cartoon Network in the U.K. The property has been licensed to more than 55 countries worldwide.
Atomic Betty follows the adventures of Betty, a little girl with a big secret. To her friends and family, she’s the sweet and brainy girl next door, but when the galaxy beckons, she sheds her humdrum persona and becomes Atomic Betty, Galactic Guardian and Defender of the Cosmos. The series was created by Atomic Cartoons and developed by Breakthrough Animation and Fresh Produce. It is produced by Breakthrough Animation Inc. and Atomic Cartoons with Tele-Images Kids in association with TELETOON Canada and the participation of the Shaw Fund and the Canadian Television Fund.
