Henson Launches ‘Elias’ Eps at MIPTV

The Jim Henson Company’s licensing banner HIP (Henson International Properties) will be unveiling the first episodes of CG animated kids series Elias: Rescue Team Adventures. The 52 x 11 preschool series is a follow up to the original Emmy-nominated show based on the picture book by Alf Knutsen and Sigurd Slattebrekk.

Produced by Norway’s Animando and Icelandic studio Caoz Animation, the show centers on a brave, playful little rescue boat named Elias who teams up with his skillful friends for enthusiastic adventure and day-saving feats. The show began broadcast on Norway’s NRK in March. HIP represents media distribution and global consumer product rights — over 300 consumer products have already been launched in the Nordic region, generating over $70 million.

Henson will also be bringing its latest series Doozers (co-produced with DHX Media) based on the industrious little dudes from Fraggle Rock. Doozers has already been picked up by Cartoonito (U.K.), Boomerang (Germany), Boing (Italy), Discovery Kids Latin America, Cartoon Network Asia and Nick Jr. Australia. HIP will also be representing Northern Irish studio Sixteen South’s new mixed-media preschool series Driftwood Bay, about a little girl who creates an imaginary world with treasures she finds washed ashore. The show will have its world debut on Nick Jr. U.K. in May and features an impressive cast including Stephen Fry (The Hobbit), Peter Mullan (Harry Potter) and Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones).
