First Disney Junior Movie ‘Lucky Duck’ Names Lead Quackers

Stars of stage (that’s Broadway, people) and screen Christian Borle, Megan Hilty and Tom Cavanagh will be leading the voice cast of the first ever Disney Junior Original Movie, Lucky Duck. Aimed at kids ages 2 to 7 and their families, the sea-faring adventure tells the story of a trio of misfit tub toys in search of the kids who will love them just the way they are. Lucky Duck premieres Friday, June 20 on Disney Junior at 7 p.m. ET/PT and Saturday, June 21 on Disney Channel at 9 a.m. ET/PT. The movie will be available for verified users on the WATCH Disney Junior app and website beginning Friday, June 6.

Taking advantage of its musical theater talent, Lucky Duck will feature six original songs, from the ballad “I’m a Lucky Duck” to the up-tempo “Tub Toy Twist” to the heartfelt “Friends Will See You Through.” The story centers on an unflappable rubber ducky with a broken squeaker named Lucky (Borle), an extroverted hippo with mismatched eyes named Flo (Hilty) and a timid turtle named Snap (Cavanagh) who are stranded at sea after their transport cargo ship is caught in a storm.

The special is a production of Nelvana Studio in association with Disney Junior. Lucky Duck is directed by Don Kim (The Adventures of Chuck and Friends) and written by WGA Award winner Michael G. Stern (Imagination Movers). Nelvana’s Irene Weibel and Colin Bohm (Mike the Knight) exec producer. Songwriters are Rick Garcia and William V. Malpede (Rango), with underscore by Frederik Wiedmann (Green Lantern: The Animated Series).
